Resilience is the natural process of adapting to adversity or challenges. Everyone has challenges in their lifetime that can feel overwhelming. I believe with effective support each experience we have is a teacher, an opportunity to increase our resilience and evolve.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I enjoy helping individuals grow through challenges they are facing.

About My Approach

I start by getting to know you or you and your situation. Specifically, I will seek to understand what you need assistance with at this point in your life and really listen to understand what your strengths and capabilities are.  I work hard to establish a meaningful supportive relationship! This is because humans have adapted to become more resilient from birth within the context of healthy, secure, and stable relationships. Once I understand your strengths, needs, preferences and abilities we will develop meaningful goals. Together we will determine specific measurable objectives to meet your goals. I use research based strategies and practices to achieve goals and objectives.

Individual Therapy

We are not meant to be happy all the time. Our brains are wired to help us survive!
When difficult things happen we are naturally sad, angry, scared and many other emotions.
I help people understand the wisdom of emotion. We will work together to understand and feel emotion in safe ways  to increase resilience.

Walk & Talk Resilient - WTR

I enjoy taking the therapy on walks utilizing nature as a co-therapist. If you are interested in this modality, we will discuss at your intake appointment.

Parent Support and Training

In my work with the KU School of Social Welfare, I spent over 10 years studying best practices to support parents caregiving for children with an array of special needs. I understand on a personal level the paradox of gift and strain caregivers feel.

More recently I worked with the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services to develop a training to certify Parent Peer Support!

I will support you to find resilience in your caregiving role.
